Love God. Love All Thy Neighbors.
New Testament, Matthew Chapter 22
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Avoid All Contention and Anger
Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi Chapter 11
29 For verily, verily I say unto you, he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me,
but is of the devil, who is the father of contention,
and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger, one with another.
30 Behold, this is not my doctrine, to stir up the hearts of men with anger,
one against another; but this is my doctrine, that such things should be done away.
We Are All Brothers and Sisters
See the Ancestry.com DNA map for me below
This is Ancestry’s current version of my ancestry.
Look at the map closely and see their estimates of my various countries of origin.
16% is indigenous American.
Ancestors from Ireland were on the exile and famine boats to Canada, US, Australia and New Zealand
where they were heavily persecuted and denied good jobs.
Before the 1900s some of the ancestors on the ranchos in Mexico were effectively slaves to the ranchos
and had little choice against the sexual advances of the owners.
When my mother came to the US from Mexico at age 4 there was huge
amounts of prejudice and job discrimination.
Other ancestors were captains of the boats and younger siblings of the owners of the ranchos.
Distant relatives of my daughter Ayumi and grandson Spencer were put in concentration camps in the US during WWII
and her mother was on the other side of Nagasaki county when we dropped the unneeded second atomic bomb
to just test it out to see if it worked well at killing people when there were hills.
History is complex and not pretty.
But we should keep it and remember it and learn from it.
We only progress by recognizing that we are all daughters and sons of a loving heavenly father and mother,
by becoming more like Jesus Christ
and should always treat each other
- our brothers and sisters -
with great respect and much kindness.
(always, always, always, no matter what the history.)

Book of Mormon
4 Behold, it has been prophesied by our fathers, that they should be kept and handed down from one generation to another, and be kept and preserved by the hand of the Lord until they should go forth unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, that they shall know of the mysteries contained thereon.
From one of my monthly newsletters:
Christianity Is Exploding in Iran – Mainstream media outlets covering Iran are likely to include stories on Soleimani, strikes on the Saudis, or Iran’s ambitions and terror network. But one thing remains largely unreported – the exponential growth of Christianity in Iran. In 1979, the year the Shah was deposed, there were only about 500 Christians from Muslim backgrounds in Iran. Yet today, estimates range anywhere from 300,000 to one million Iranian Christians. Disillusionment with Islam, persecution, internet and satellite TV, and the spread of the Bible have all contributed to this massive growth. According to CBN, “Christianity is growing faster in the Islamic Republic of Iran than in any other country in the world.” Afshin Ziafat remarks, “more Iranians have become Christians in the last twenty years than in the previous 1,300 years, since Islam came to Iran.”
I love the message in these words, that each of us can “ask of God.” I’ve been thinking lately that approaching God doesn’t just mean coming with our questions—it means coming with our sorrows, our joys, our anxieties, our fears. It means coming before Him with everything we are, warts and all, with the knowledge that He will receive us. And it means that we, like the prophet has directed, “hear Him.”
Start by doing what's necessary,
then do what's possible;
and suddenly
you are doing the impossible.
